A Sisterhood that Spans Continents

Each year, Vanede gather with survivors at shelters across Nigeria in solidarity, remembrance and celebration of their lives and courage. It is our belief that to feel ‘remembered’ during your darkest hour is a deep act if humanity and the true meaning of community.

For the past three years, we’ve partnered with shelters in Enugu and Lagos to deliver annual programming that includes:

∙ Food and groceries
∙ Medical care and health screenings
∙ Mental health support and counseling
∙ Clothing and personal items
∙ Comprehensive day of care and community

Women survivors of abuse in Nigeria often face isolation, stigma, and lack of resources. Many feel forgotten by their communities, their government, and the world.

”We Remember You” exists to remind them: they are not forgotten. They matter. Their story matters. And there are people who remember them and care about their circumstances.

Impact I 3 Years of Growth

December 2023: The Beginning With 25 Women

We Remember You began with a visit to a shelter in Nigeria. Nneka brought gifts and cash donations for 25 women and delivered a talk about remembering and being remembered. At the end, she made a promise: *I’ll be back. And I’ll bring more.*

December 2024: Expanding the Care to 50 Women

In 2024, We Remember You supported 50 women with comprehensive programming: medical screenings provided by Clafiya, a catered event with mobile mocktail bar, groceries for each woman, free clothing donations, and cash stipends.

December 2025: Reaching More than 200 Women

In 2025, We Remember You grew to support 200 women across shelters in Lagos and Enugu with expanded programming: medical screenings and health services, catered events with mobile mocktail bar, groceries and essential supplies, free clothing, cash support, mental health resources, and dignity-centered care.
